About me and my therapy practice
Why counselling?
Sometimes life can challenge our innate resilience and we can find ourselves feeling panicked, anxious or depressed, behaving in ways that are hard to understand, or struggling to find a way out of a situation that is harmful for us or others.
Counselling and psychotherapy provides a time and place to explore who you are, what has happened to you and what you're going through. The opportunity to express yourself in this way, without judgement, can be beneficial in itself.
Additionally, it can facilitate an understanding of how emotions are connected to our past experiences, our circumstances and our expectations. The therapeutic relationship that I work to co-create with you can bring a deeper understanding, and if desired, help you to bring about change.
Where do I begin?
Starting may seem a daunting prospect and you may not be sure yet whether it’s right for you.
Following a brief introductory phone call, I find it beneficial to have an initial consultation where we can work together to determine whether therapy is appropriate, and also whether you feel comfortable working with me.
There’s no obligation to proceed beyond this point. If we do decide to work together, whether for a short time or in an open-ended manner, we can review our progress regularly.
If we agree to continue beyond our first consultation, we’ll meet weekly at the same time and on the same day of the week for approximately 50-minutes. I am also able to offer twice-weekly appointments if preferred. Each session costs £60.
