About me and my therapy practice

Do you have so many thoughts whirling around that you can’t make sense of things or calm your anxiety? Maybe you’re feeling an emotional pain that you can’t figure out, or you already know it’s source, but it still hurts, and it feels like you’re drowning. Or maybe you just need to say something out loud and be heard but worry that you will be misunderstood. I’m here. I’ve also been there. I’ll listen, and together we’ll figure out what’s going on and find ways to help you cope.

I have worked with clients to manage anxiety, explore anger and depression, challenge imposter syndrome, make peace with guilt and regret, overcome loneliness, challenge self-criticism, question low self-esteem, navigate relationship difficulties, learn to set boundaries, understand the feelings around loss and the continuous emptiness of bereavement and grief and challenge the feelings of shame.

I understand taboo topics and unspoken “rules” that can bring on feelings of confusion because of expectations or disappointments. You won’t have to explain to me the subtleties of religious and cultural teachings or the feelings around shame and the isolation it brings. I will accept you exactly as you are and work with you to discover or regain your sense of self and find your voice.

I am also a perinatal counsellor in the areas of pregnancy loss, infant loss and post-natal depression and I have many years of experience working with those who have suffered the sudden unexpected loss of a loved one.

Additional specialist areas are support for victims of internet dating scams, ghosting, separation, divorce and post-divorce, support for carers of those with complex needs including autism, ADHD and Alzheimer's, loneliness and the unique demands of an expat or foreign service lifestyle or difficulty in assimilation.

Practice description

I'm a Person Centred/Integrative counsellor and will take your lead while incorporating different theories to help you to find the solutions.

I work in a creative contemporary way, often using visuals and imaging to help clients gain clarity and develop internal cues and tools to bring about understanding and change.

Please note: I work with individuals only. I do not offer couples' counselling.

My first session

Prior to the first session, I offer a free up to 30-minute telephone "getting to know you" chat when we can discuss what brings you to counselling and you can also ask me questions. If you decide to proceed, we can then discuss the best day and time for sessions.
