About me and my therapy practice
Hi there! I have been a practicing counsellor and therapist in the North West since 2010 and moved to Glossop in early 2015.
What do I feel is important in my work?
- providing a safe and supportive environment for
clients to deal with personal challenges,
- building a warm and trusting relationship, and
- offering various ways of working - within my training - because
different people (and problems) benefit from different
In the past I have worked for an NHS counselling service, four charities and in private practice. This has given me a lot of experience of supporting people with many different life challenges.
Currently I provide counselling for young people at 42nd Street, a long-standing Greater Manchester charity. I also have a number of places in my Glossop-based private practice for people of all ages.
In early 2017 I completed the standard training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and I am now working towards accreditation. I am glad to be able to offer this highly effective trauma therapy at a reasonable rate.
I have also recently obtained the Advanced Certificate in Counselling for Depression. This emotion-focused approach works well not only for depression but also many other issues rooted in suppressed feelings and disconnection. This therapy is IAPT-compliant, which means it has been shown to be effective in controlled trials and is approved for use in the NHS.
HOW TO GET STARTED
Informal enquiries by phone or email are welcome. I feel it's really important you find the right counsellor, so I offer a free 30 minutes face-to-face or telephone consultation, to help you decide.
Please have a look at my website www.growing-well.co.uk for more detailed information about the way I work, my qualifications, and testimonials from former clients.
