About me and my therapy practice

Is there something that doesn't quite make sense that you, you and your partner or your child might like to explore? Do you feel stressed, anxious, depressed, confused, sad, alone or is something else bothering you?

Did you know that everyone has reactive behaviours that happen automatically and that many aspects of who and how we are, and how we react towards people and situations, stem from our personal life experiences, the attachment patterns we have formed with significant people in our lives and our psychological development?

Fortunately, after exploration through our sessions, many people have reported that these can be managed differently and changed. Please see my website (link above) for more information and to view the feedback that has been written by previous clients on Google.

I am qualified to Masters level in Person-Centred counselling for working with children and young people, have a degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Studies and a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Counselling Practice and I have been working with children and families for over 10 years and as a counsellor for over 7 years.

Likewise, I work in an integrative way so I will adapt my approach, drawing on various therapeutic models to meet you or your child's needs. For example you may wish to talk about something and explore it together one week but choose not to talk about it again, or you may want to talk about the same thing over and over.

My fees are: £50 per 50 minute session for adults or 45 minute session per young person, £75 for 1 hour and 15 minutes per couple and £55 per hour or £75 per hour and a half for Supervisees. Please feel free to ask for more information.

Thank you. Anita

Practice description

I am lucky to have access to some lovely room which I rent in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury.

I am offering either face to face, online or telephone sessions to individual adults, couples, young people (over the age of 12yrs) and supervisees wherever it is possible and I am fully trained to work using all of these approaches.

If you'd like to try remote therapy, I use a safe online platform that is encrypted to military level. It is simple to set up and use and no-one can see or hear what we are saying to each other. You can have sessions via web cam on your Smart phone, Tablet, I-Pad, Laptop or Computer.

If you'd prefer to try face to face therapy then my room really is quite cosy and I've been told it has a friendly feel to it.

Sessions with adults tend to be talking, but with some creative activities if you're interested in this approach. With younger children I generally offer therapy in play as this helps them express their thoughts and feelings without needing to put them into words. Sessions with adolescents tend to be a mixture of both approaches depending on what feels best, so some creativity and some talking.

If you'd like to know more, please just ask. :-)

My first session

It can be daunting taking this first step but I hope I can reassure you when I say that it is your (or your child's) decision whether to come again or not. There is no obligation after the initial session and you can choose to end a session, or counselling altogether whenever you choose. This first meeting is an opportunity for us to meet each other and to consider how my way of working might match up with the support you, you and your partner, or your child want or need. You might choose to share what your worries are or what you would like to be different at the end of counselling and we will have the opportunity to ask each other some questions to help us think about things too.

For children and young people, this first session usually involves 15 minutes with the adult and child together (to explain my way of working & what will and won't be shared etc.), then 15 minutes with the adult on their own (dependent on the young person's age & how they feel about this), then the last part of the session is with the young person on their own.

If after this first session we agree that therapy might be helpful then it would be entirely your (or your child's) choice whether you'd like to see me again. You can take however long you need in making this decision.

Please feel free to contact me, to talk about this further. Best wishes and take care, Anita :-)

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am a level 6, CPCAB, qualified supervisor. My theoretical orientation is Integrative with Person-Centred theory as my core and I draw from other approaches where appropriate. I offer supervision sessions, either in a room I rent at Meole Brace Shrewsbury (SY3 9HF) or remotely, to qualified professionals who follow a recognized ethical framework.

Having experienced a variety of supervision approaches, I am able to understand how it can feel anxiety provoking if the relationship doesn't match up well enough; after all this is where we have to share the things we're probably feeling the most unsettled or worried about!

However, supervision should also be supportive, encouraging, enabling and have an appropriate amount of  challenge in the mix too. So, whether you're bringing a difficult client situation, exploring how you've understood something, a potential safeguarding situation, events that have affected you, or something else, I aim to be available as soon as I can when you need me, in a supportive, encouraging way, but with enough challenge to help you grow.

Please feel free to contact me for a no obligation, informal chat so we can think about how our ways of working might fit together.

Best wishes, Anita

Practice description

I am able yo deliver supervision either face to face or online by webcam.

It does feel slightly different doing online supervision but does have some advantages in that you have the option carry out your session on a Smart phone, tablet or other portable device in any confidential space without the need to allow travel time.

If you'd like to meet with me, then we can decide whether working together feels right then please feel free to contact me. Best wishes, Anita :-)

My first session

This is a 30 minute meeting which gives us an opportunity to have a chat and think together about our levels of experience, ways of working and expectations of each other if we were to work together in the future. There might be some questions we want to ask each other. We may want to understand what support might be helpful and ways we might manage this to address your & your clients' needs.

Maybe you have a new venture in mind that you would like to share in supervision or perhaps you might want to bounce some ideas around or try a new way of working in your practices? I have years of experience as a counsellor / psychotherapist working with clients aged from 5 years upwards and have also worked in schools, children's centres, with families and in the adult education sector. I am trained in psychology and whilst my core theoretical orientation is Person Centred I am not completely non- directive and do draw on other theoretical models (psychoanalytic, Geschtalt, TA and some CBT where appropriate. I find this has been very useful when working in supervision with other counsellors / psychotherapists.

Please feel free to contact me if you'd like further information. kind regards, Anita :-)
