About me and my therapy practice
As a qualified Person-Centred counsellor and a registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their Ethical Framework for good practice and the BACP Guidelines for Online and Telephone Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have recently qualified in Online and telephone counselling so I can now safely practice both face to face and online whichever suits you best. I have also completed Emotion Focused Psychotherapy training which provides the opportunity to explore more deeply the core pain beneath many of the difficult emotions we experience.
I have worked as a counsellor in Occupational Health in the NHS and for many years prior, as a Nurse and Health Visitor where I gained valuable experience working with all ages and the whole family dynamic, which supports my work as a counsellor when exploring all the human issues that arise such as Relationships, loss, Bereavement, Depression, adoption, abuse, child birth and postnatal Depression. I support clients with work related concerns such as bullying and stress in the workplace. I also work with acceptance of change due to Bereavement or loss of a loved one or your health and adjusting to living with long term conditions. There are so many difficulties that arise throughout our lives where counselling can really help, so if you decide it is for you, I would like to help.
I work from my home and online and face to face when possible , where I provide a comfortable, relaxing environment for you to bring any issue that's making life difficult for you at this time. I live outside of town so if online work is not suitable, you can come to my therapy room or if necessary, I could arrange to come to you if that suits you better. I also consider my fees an individual basis as i don't feel finances should stop someone coming who really needed support.
My first session
Our early session involves us getting to know each other and deciding if I am the right therapist with the right skills to help you. If so, we will complete an assessment and contract together or online, so we are all clear on the plan of work ahead and expectations and limitations to the counselling relationship.
