About me and my therapy practice

At Clarity Counselling you will be warmly welcomed by me, Claire Baker, a fully qualified, insured and BACP-registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I offer daytime and evening sessions in both Brighton and Hove and can work with you short or long-term.

My therapeutic approach is underpinned by humanistic and existential philosophy and theory. Therefore I work in a way that recognises and respects you as a whole person, not just the problem, concern or crisis that has led you to seek counselling. I avoid restrictive models that categorise or label but instead work with you to explore the meaning you have made of yourself, your relationships with others and your (inner and outer) world.

My aim is to offer a dedicated time and space, away from the distractions of daily life, just for you to be you, to be listened to without judgement and to feel supported, whatever you are going through or wish to explore.

Counselling often provides a space to process difficult or painful feelings within the safety of a trusting and respectful therapeutic relationship. However, it is also an opportunity to reflect on all/any aspects of yourself and your life. Whatever brings you to counselling, it is a personal journey - there are no ‘rights’ or ‘wrongs’.

As psychotherapeutic counselling is a collaborative process, it is important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. For this reason I offer a half price introductory session to give us an opportunity to meet, discuss what brings you to counselling and see how we feel about working together, with no obligation for you to commit to further sessions if you do not wish.
