About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Deborah and welcome to my profile.

I understand the challenge and importance of finding a professional you can trust, who you’ll feel comfortable with, who will understand you and who can help you; these elements are crucial for effective therapy. In my private practice I offer:

  • Warmth, care, sensitivity and support for adults of any age and background
  • A confidential, non-judgemental, therapeutic space in Southwark SE1, in person, on Zoom, by telephone and Walk & Talk
  • A safe space, where you can be you, at your own pace
  • An opportunity to be truly heard and understood
  • A non-directive approach where I will be led by you
  • A unique approach tailored specifically for your needs
  • Help for you to discover a better way of being in your life

I am an experienced, qualified integrative therapeutic counsellor.

‘Integrative’ means that I draw on different counselling theories in my work according to your circumstances and specific needs, both in the moment and over the course of your therapy; this means my approach to working with you will be as unique as you.

I am a registered member of the regulating body BACP and I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for good practice. I attend regular clinical supervision and I'm committed to client confidentiality and continuing professional and personal development.

Practice description

Counselling sessions will involve us working together to explore your thoughts, feelings, perceptions, experiences and meanings. Whether you are struggling with big life issues from the past (eg childhood, family), present (eg relationships, loss, stress), long-term difficulties (eg anxiety, depression, self-esteem) or feel lost, low or unsure of how you feel, counselling with me can help. Also, you do not need to have a crisis to benefit from therapy; personal development is empowering and can help you cope better with life.

Our therapeutic relationship will be at the heart of what we can achieve in the healing process; it will be from this place of security that we’ll work at a deeper level, at your pace. With your increased self-awareness, deeper insight and understanding we can create a special opportunity for positive change and lasting growth. How you think, your relationship to yourself and to others can benefit as well as opening the possibility of living a more fulfilling life in the present and true to you.

I have worked clinically in a number of settings with clients of different ages, backgrounds and presenting difficulties. These settings have spanned private agencies, charitable sectors and school contexts as well as private practice in London. I am experienced in helping my clients work through a broad range of life’s difficulties.

My first session

The first session is our opportunity to meet each other and we will explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to get out of it. I can answer any questions you have and explain how I work and I will be honest with you about how counselling with me can help you.

I offer day and evening appointments Monday to Friday to adults in person, on Zoom, by telephone and Walk & Talk.
