About me and my therapy practice
I offer a safe, confidential and professional space for you to explore your personal issues that are affecting your quality of life. I have been trained in integrative Counselling so my approach to client work uses Person Centred, Gestalt, Transpersonal and CBT with the Connections model. At the core of my way of working is the belief in the client’s ability to take control of their situation through understanding themselves and their past. This is done by making Connection to the different parts of body, mind, emotion and soul to become more whole and accepting of who we are as human beings.
I am guided in my work by the BACP's ethical framework and my own humanistic principles. I am respectful of all faiths and spiritual beliefs and celebrate diversity. I really enjoy building relationships with clients based on trust and respect that offer them the chance to grow and become more at ease with themselves. Having worked with many clients in a time restricted service I have honed my skills to identify the major issues affecting a clients well being and focus the work on empowering the client to be an active participant in their therapy. I believe that everyone has the potential to be happy and they deserve it.
I have a great love of music, art and the natural world and an interest in sport, science and technology. I am very aware of the relationship between body and mind and how things like diet and exercise can be an important part of an individual’s well being. I also try to help clients identify what their needs are and how they can meet them by offering them the opportunity to explore their own innate creativity and rediscover a sense of joy and playfulness in life.
I can offer you online sessions or in person (if you are in the area). The sessions will be for 50 minutes. I offer an initial consultation of 25 minutes over the phone for free which can be arranged by either email or text. I will aim to build a supportive, working relationship with you based on trust and respect. I have worked with clients of different genders, ages and ethnic groups from all walks of life. Counselling is my way of being of service to the community so I will work hard to help you get yourself back in control of your life. How many sessions you have is your choice but I would encourage you to consider setting some goals for what you would like to get from Counselling and we can work towards achieving them. I aim to help you gain some clarity about your needs and how you can meet them.
My first session
Our first session would involve going over the contract of our work together. Although I would encourage you to identify some goals or things that you want to work towards in our sessions, the choice is yours.
