About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Psychodynamic Counsellor and Supervisor with many years of working with people who are feeling distressed and unhappy but perhaps do not know why.

We have an inherent need to understand why we are feeling a certain way,  becoming more self-aware and having the capability to think and feel emotions with clarity is the step to understanding how to capture the essence of who we are and regain a sense of self again. 

 When we are unhappy, depressed, worried, anxious, behaving out of character, unable to focus on work or home, repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviours, feeling overwhelmed or unfulfilled, it is so difficult to explore why on our own.  There are  countless reasons why a person may seek professional help. 

We are all individual so your issue will be unique to you.

I work long term, open ended, or short term to help achieve change. I offer face-to-face, Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp and phone appointments to make attending sessions as easy as possible.

As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapeutic practitioner I have also been supervising for many years with groups and on a one to one basis. 

 I am AXAPPP approved BUPA Superuser status, Aviva affiliate. Please request I become approved with your healthcare provider if not on my list. Enhanced DBS check for Child and adult workforce, renewed in May 2023. AXAPPP.

Practice description

I am passionate about the benefits of therapy and how this can empower individuals to feel happy and contented in their lives. My aim is to provide a gold standard of therapy to every client I work with.

Some reasons why therapy is helpful:

Anxiety, stress and panic

I use helpful and easily accessible CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy) tools to help alleviate quickly and affectively these difficult and sometimes debilitating symptoms. 

Loss of self confidence

This can happen at any time of life and there is generally a reason for it, important to explore why!

Complex grief

Sometimes this happens following a death associated to early years or childhood, through suicide or illness which may have left a profound impact on the survivor. 

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ('PTSD')

PTSD; most commonly but not exclusively, this can include fear and anxiety, re- experiencing the trauma through flashbacks, triggers that are both conscious and unconscious.. The protocol I use is EMDR (eye movement and desensitisation and reprocessing)

Interpersonal relationship difficulties

Unable to relate to others and not knowing why, this may be due to depression or learned behaviours, lack of self esteem and confidence. 

Not recent sexual abuse

This can lead to loss of trust, low self image, low self esteem, inability to have an intimate relationship. It can be very important to learn strategies for intrusive thoughts and images when the triggers to the trauma arrive uninvited. 

I am an Interpersonal psychotherapist IPT trained at Anna Freud institute which comes under NICE guidelines for depression.



My first session

An initial assessment is important to establish if I am the right therapist for you, If I am not I will do my best to signpost you to someone who you feel is more suited  to you wherever possible.

Assessments are seen as a first session and therefore chargeable, therefore please allow 50 minutes.

Through assessment and early exploration a treatment plan is established.
