I currently have availability on Wednesdays and Thursdays, during the day and evening.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer online counselling and therapy services for adults in the Tyneside area. I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, and I trained at the Northern Guild in Newcastle upon Tyne. My training was in integrative psychotherapy, with transactional analysis as the core model. I am currently working towards my MSc in Psychotherapy.
Everyone who comes to therapy is different, and there isn't a set number of sessions. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. Some people find a few sessions is enough to help them deal with their issue, and for others long-term work might be more suitable. This is something we will discuss between us, to make a decision that works best for you.
Often there's something in our lives that we’re having difficulty dealing with. This can be one specific event or experience, like a bereavement, loss of a job, the ending of a relationship, or stress with finances, work or studying. You might have difficulties that you've been living with for a long time, and which never really seem to go away. Perhaps you're experiencing panic, anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, problems in relationships, or something else that's distressing.
Many people find it useful to have a space to talk about all of this and work through it with someone who will listen – and that’s what I’m here for. Whatever it is that’s bringing you to therapy, I hope that I can help.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore and attend to what's bothering you. Because everyone who comes to therapy is different, I work in an integrative way and I focus on you as an individual. That means I will tailor my approach to you. My ultimate goal is to help you make sense of what you're going through and find a way to resolve it and move forward in your life.
My first session
I offer a free initial phone call so that we can be introduced to each other and you can get an idea of how I work. After this, I offer an assessment session at a reduced rate, which gives me the chance to understand what's bringing you to therapy in more detail, as well as offering us both the chance to see if we're a good fit. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of good counselling, so it's important to find a counsellor that's right for you.
