About me and my therapy practice

Welcome. My name is Musonda. I was born in Zambia and relocated to the UK where I have lived for over thirty years. I am a qualified Relational/Integrative Therapist, experienced in delivering face to face and online counselling.

I work in a client centred way making this a space for you - that starts with you - and that’s where we will work from.

My approach is relational and integrative. This means that during our work, I will use interventions underpinned by psychodynamic and Humanistic theories and include mindfulness. As part of my work with clients, I am curious about early childhood experiences and significant life events; and how these have come to shape thoughts, beliefs, and behaviour. I believe in going beneath the surface to understand your experiences and give your story a voice and meaning. Therefore, I strive to provide a space that is confidential, non-judgemental, and safe for you to be seen, heard, and validated.

I have experience of working with individuals and couples with psychosexual difficulties.  I also work with individual adults with a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, abuse including sexual, suicidal ideation depression, anger, low self-esteem, self-harm, and clients living with HIV. I have experience of working with young people (16-18 year-olds) in a college setting and have volunteered with Place2Be - supporting children in a primary school setting and Positive East, a HIV Charity.

Practice description

I hold a BA (with Hons) in Theology and Counselling (accredited by Middlesex University), and I have specific training in bereavement, grief, and loss training. I am a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy finalist and currently work with individuals and couples with sexual and relationship  difficulties.  In addition to my private practice, I work with couples as part of the Psychosexual Therapy team at Relate Nottingham.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) - currently working towards accreditation; a Professional Associate of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy (COSRT); and an accredited Member with the National Counselling Society.

Sessions are held weekly on an agreed date and time and last 50 minutes for individual Therapy and 60 minutes for Psychosexual Therapy. Currently I am only offering online sessions on zoom or Teams.
