About me and my therapy practice
I offer my clients a proven track record and a wealth of experience in both short- and long-term therapy. My short term work experience has been mainly within the NHS where I worked for nine years, the last five as the Senior Counsellor for Islington, treating anxiety and depression. I am now a lecturer in Counselling & Psychotherapy at the University of East London, teaching the next generation of therapists. This is alongside my private practice which is now in its twelfth year.
The majority of my clients come looking for relief from anxiety and depression. I draw on several psychotherapeutic approaches to form a therapeutic plan unique for each individual client (an integrative approach).
Research shows that therapy works best for clients, in crisis or otherwise, who are ready to make changes in their lives. I lean heavily on psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioural theory but at heart am humanistic - I believe that you know deep down how to make the necessary changes, and my role is to facilitate you in achieving that change.
I am a very experienced supervisor of other counsellors and am a fully trained couples therapist, having trained at the Tavistock Centre for Couples and Relationships in a form of couples therapy that has a proven record of success. I am also trained in Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy for Anxiety and Depression.
