About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. This means that I work ethically, I am self-aware and that you can trust that I will work within my limits to help you.

I work in a Person-Centred approach to counselling, which allows you to take more of a lead in sessions,  leaving you to discover your own solutions through self exploration, providing you with the ability to find your own innate way forward in life.

We all have times where we experience difficulties that feel too much or situations where we feel stuck. Feelings of anxiety, depression, grief and anger are very normal but we don't always know how to cope with them and may feel overwhelmed. You may not be sure what is wrong but you know something isn’t right.

Perhaps you are struggling with an aspect of your life, wanting change or looking for a different way of coping? Whatever your situation might be, talking to a trained professional in a safe and supportive environment can help. I would welcome the opportunity to meet you and understand more about you and your situation. Together we can talk about what might be at the heart of your difficulties and how therapy can help you.

Additionally I have trained and offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) for clients who have experienced trauma. EMDR’s aim is to reduce distress and negative beliefs associated with past overwhelming or traumatic events, whether experienced as an adult or during childhood.

Practice description

My overall style is friendly, empathic, and down to earth. I specialise in working with intense emotions. If you are experiencing difficulty with anger, fear, sadness, guilt, etc., we work together to develop techniques to balance these feelings. This sometimes involves alternative ways of thinking, behaving, or learning skills to cope, such as mindfulness or self compassion.

No matter what your experience of life, you will receive validation, support and kindness, as well as being empowered and equipped to build resolution and resilience. We work with your goals and your agenda, at your pace, to achieve the wellbeing you need to live your best life. I would be delighted to hear from you to arrange an initial appointment.

My first session

In the first session we would contract and explore together what you are hoping to gain from therapy.

Our first session gives us the space to check out whether we think we are a good fit to work together. The connection between us is important and here you can see if I am someone you feel comfortable to talk to and want to share your experiences with.

This might be the first time that you have worked with a counsellor and this session will give you a better understanding of what counselling is and to see if you think it could help.

If you have worked with a counsellor before, your past experiences might inform you of what you are looking for now and this session is an opportunity to see if what I can offer matches with your expectations.

We will talk about what brings you to counselling and what you think you want to focus on. This is something that can change too as we continue our work together.
