About me and my therapy practice

I am an Eating Disorder Therapist offering a specialist clinic for people struggling with their relationship with food and body image. You may have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, suffering from anxiety or depression and using food as a coping mechanism or just instinctively know that your relationship with food is unhealthy and have a wish to explore this. I look beyond the symptoms and focus on a future beyond destructive behaviours, supporting people to move towards their dreams and aspirations without the burden of intrusive thoughts about food and body image.

I have been working with eating disorders for the past 15 years having initially trained with the National Centre for Eating Disorders.  I am still very much immersed in current research and combine evidence-based treatment tools with nutritional education.  I am passionate about empowering people to gain strength, health and freedom from the despair of unhelpful eating behaviours.

I work closely with families and carers, providing support, education and experience at a lonely and despairing time.  I aim to empower carers with skills to support the sufferer so they in turn become the 'expert'.

I am a Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer with additional training in clinical nutrition, CBT, CBT-ED, MANTRA, Multi Family Therapy, clinical hypnotherapy and breathwork.

I also have a keen interest in running and polar adventure.   I believe there is no better place than Cornwall to provide a truly holistic approach to recovery, including all elements of lifestyle with so many opportunities to explore wellbeing and rebuild our personal, social and communal lives.

Practice description

I work with adults, young people and families and aim to provide flexible and appropriate care depending on the severity of the eating disorder.  I work to instigate change and therefore there is a strong emphasis on nutrition and behavioural change meaning there will often be tasks to be completed outside of sessions.

I also supervise two trainee therapists who can work at a reduced rate, should cost be a determining factor.
