About me and my therapy practice

My approach is to work creatively with clients individual needs, and integrate a therapeutic space that feels, non-judgemental.  Within our therapeutic space, empathy, compassion and respect is at the heart of our work together.

Sometimes we need space to unpack our thoughts and feelings, and to understand how life is impacting us, other times we need more indepth unpacking to understand what we are looking for, and how we have become the person we have become: whichever it is for you we can look at this together, in a supportive therapeutic environment.  I believe a robust therapeutic relationship can alleviate mental distress. By experiencing my own personal journey through therapy, I am mindful of each clients individual uniqueness: therefore I draw on a synthesis of theoretical approaches, from a humanistic stance; to meet each clients individual need.

Counselling can help us to gain insight into how we relate within our relationships, and discover new ways of being: creating new patterns of relating and cultivating a stronger sense of 'self'.

Practice description

I am currently offering telephone counselling as an alternative to my usual face to face practice. I will be reviewing my practice on a regular basis in line with the Covid 19  guidelines.

(Please be advised I am now offering limited spaces for in-face counselling. If you would like a copy of my in-depth mitigation safety guidance, to enable you to make an informed decision for in-face counselling, please feel free to contact me).

I  offer both long and short term counselling and psychotherapy to everyone 18 years of age and upwards.

I offer two locations one in central Bourne and also in Thurlby, in the suburb of Bourne. I offer a therapeutic, non-judgemental and confidential service.

I offer an assessment session initially which is an opportunity for us to learn about each other. This session will play an important part in me understanding your motivation for therapy, and an opportunity to gain a sense of what it will feel like to  work  with me. Ultimately, a good client and therapist relationship is key to a robust platform to work from.

Life can be challenging, and at times seeking a professional therapeutic relationship,  may well be the right way forward to bring resolve to your challenges.

My first session

Our first meeting will be an exploration of what you feel you need from our sessions, and how best to support you with this. My fee for the initial assessment is £25.00, and usually lasts about 30/40 mins. All our sessions thereafter will be for a 50 mins duration.

Approaching a counsellor for some can feel a little daunting, an initial contact can be the first step to alleviate that feeling, so please do not hesitate to either email/text  or ring me, to learn if I am the right counsellor for you.

I look forward to your contact - Debra
