About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is Marie and I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor.

I appreciate how daunting and possibly overwhelming it can be trying to choose a counsellor. It might even be difficult to reach out and ask for help but please remember that sometimes we all struggle and feel anxious or depressed and sometimes we just need someone to talk to.

Counselling can provide you with that place to talk as well as helping you to make positive changes and find a way forward so please don't be afraid to get in touch. I am very approachable and will always aim to respond to you as soon as I can.

I am very gentle and patient and I work with the belief that you are the expert on yourself and therefore I respect your thoughts and feelings. Everything you experience is valid and I will not judge you. My aim is to offer a friendly and non-judgmental space for you to talk openly and in confidence.

I have worked for several years in a variety of agencies and charities before starting my own private practice. My previous experience includes volunteering for Rape Crisis, Cruse Bereavement Care, The Bereavement Counselling Charity and an NHS GP Surgery.

Some of the issues and difficulties I can help and support you through include: anxiety and stress, PTSD and trauma, depression and low mood, abuse, difficult relationships, anger management, loss, bereavement and grief, low self esteem and low confidence.

If you have any questions or you would like to book an appointment please call, text or email me.

I also have an online booking system which can be found on my website.

My first session

The first appointment is a full 50 minute session. This a great opportunity for us to meet each other and hopefully give you a sense of whether you might feel comfortable working with me. There is some paperwork to complete which includes some general information about you such as, your contact details and a brief medical history. After this, I will go through my contract with you which includes my cancellation policy and confidentiality. Then, at your own pace, we will talk about what is bringing you to counselling along with any goals, changes or outcomes you might like to achieve. At the end of this appointment you are welcome to book in for another session or take your time and have a think about it. You are not under any obligation to continue with the counselling.
