About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced counsellor, my aim is to work alongside you, in a non-judgemental way, enabling you to explore issues at your own pace. I have worked in the NHS for fifteen years, as a specialist mental health worker, I have been counselling since 2013, working at a number of counselling services within the community.
My aims through therapy is to develop a therapeutic working relationship where you will have the time and space to process those difficult times, and gain confidence in your abilities to help you cope with life issues.
I have worked extensively with people who suffer with feeling emotionally distant and closed off, have agoraphobia, and people who present with depression, anxiety, stress and past Traumas. I have experience with post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood sexual abuse, and identity issues, Health related issues, and career related issues and support people in caring roles.
Psychodynamic counselling, simply put, as getting an understanding of your past, and past reactions to help unlock why you react the way you do, this in turn helps you to understand yourself and I use other therapeutic tools if needed, such as; Cognitive behaviour therapy, solution focused, and life coaching.
