About me and my therapy practice

What do I offer?

I am a down to earth, Person-Centred counsellor offering confidential, ethical and non-judgemental talking therapy to adults and young people.

I am happy to discuss any issues at all that may be on your mind.

You can contact me in confidence to arrange a no obligation session for yourself or a young person.

I am a qualified telephone and online counsellor, which gives you the option of covid-safe therapy, from wherever you feel is the most comfortable place to talk.

*At the moment, face to face counselling is only carried out with vulnerable clients, in- line with strict covid-19 safety measures and where all other forms of remote therapy are considered unsuitable.

Whether you are seeking therapeutic support for the first time or you have received a diagnosis and have been recommended counselling as a form of treatment by your GP, I would discuss your reasons for contacting me at your initial session.

If I felt that you required the expertise of another practitioner or an alternative form of treatment, then I would be congruent about this from the outset. I adhere to the standards of the BACP Ethical Framework and I am aware of my own professional limitations.

As a client, you have the autonomy to choose which practitioner, type of therapy, method of delivery, location, time of day, that feels most beneficial to you.

You always have the option to review the service you receive and assess if it is adequately supporting your therapeutic needs.

"As no one else can know how we perceive, we are the best experts on ourselves."

-Carl Rogers

Practice description

What are my expertise?

I have worked with young people for many years, in a number of settings and have a tremendous amount of empathy for issues they face. I currently work with secondary school pupils and college and university students.

Children and Young People (Aged 11+)

I have worked with young people for many years, in a number of settings and have a tremendous amount of empathy for issues they face. I currently work with secondary school pupils and college and university students.

Adults (Aged 18+)

I have substantial experience of working with adults struggling with grief, loss and life transitions. I have a lot of personal experiences in these areas, which have heightened my sense of empathy for clients, who find themselves in similar circumstances.

Therapeutic Outcomes

Everyone comes to counselling with a different purpose. There is no ‘one size fits all’ outcome. The hope is that working together therapeutically, will help to ground and calm you, whilst allowing you to see things with more clarity and encourage deeper insight into yourself.

It may help you to acknowledge ways to improve your wellbeing, identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours or hold you steady whilst you are experiencing something difficult or painful.

The overall aim is to help you to achieve more autonomy within your own life and improve your capacity to live well.

It is also important to consider that the door to therapy is always open, should you ever wish to return, perhaps to revisit a recurring issue or explore something new.

My first session

What will be expected of you?

Before therapy commences I will ask you to complete a client contract form which gives important information about the counselling process.

You will be invited to arrange an initial session by which you can decide if the therapist and type of therapy offered is suitable for your needs.

Sessions last 50 minutes and allow an opportunity for you to talk freely about whatever is on your mind.

There are no rights or wrongs with what to talk about in counselling. All of your thoughts and feelings are valid and worthy of being heard. I am here to sit with you and listen.
