About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Ruth and I will offer you a safe and confidential space to share your thoughts and feelings. Working together, we will find a way through the problems you’re currently facing and build resilience to tackle life’s future challenges.

How counselling can help

If you’re thinking about counselling, it’s likely that you’re feeling unhappy, stressed, anxious or depressed. Maybe you’re even feeling overwhelmed or burnt out. You might be hanging on to difficult experiences from the past or maybe you’re struggling with making the changes you want for the future. Counselling can offer you an opportunity to explore your feelings and find a way through to increased self-awareness and a more fulfilled life.

About me

I am a BACP registered professional counsellor. From my practice in Chorlton, South Manchester I offer face-to-face, online and telephone sessions.

With a strong grounding in Person-Centred Therapy, I use an integrative approach, tailoring our sessions to best suit you and your needs.

I have 7 years experience working in the NHS, providing holistic support to patients, families and NHS staff.

I have worked as a counsellor for Macmillan Cancer Support for 3 years, supporting individuals dealing with bereavement. I also work with people facing diagnosis, going through treatment and living with and beyond cancer.

Prior to this, I worked in the charity sector for 15 years, managing and delivering helplines to those in need of emotional support.

Training and Qualifications

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (BACP Accredited)

BSc (Hons) Psychology

PG Certificate Nutrition

I have additional training and experience in the areas of anxiety, depression, menopause, bereavement and cancer.

Practice description

Compassionate and individualised counselling

For counselling to be successful, the most important thing is that there is a trusting, therapeutic bond between client and counsellor. I bring to my practice a calm and genuine warmth and will listen to your feelings in a non-judgemental way. I'll respond to your needs with compassion, respect and empathy, and will use a holistic approach to help you work through your current difficulties to better understand yourself.

If you would like to arrange a free, no obligation 20-minute telephone session where I can explain how we can work together and answer any questions, please get in touch.

My first session
