I'm currently offering socially distanced walk and talk therapy sessions. I have limited appointments available in the daytime. Please contact me for further information.
About me and my therapy practice
I'm an Integrative Counsellor which means that I draw from a wide range of counselling knowledge and skills (Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)), because I feel that this enables me to tailor counselling sessions to fully meet the needs of an individual, thereby appreciating that everyone is unique and that what works for one person, might not work for everyone.
It is my hope to offer a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space, to provide a place where you feel comfortable and secure enough to share your issues and concerns in the hope that whatever is troubling you can be made sense of and work towards ways to make your life easier and more fulfilled.
Sessions are very much tailored to your needs and your goals for receiving counselling. You set the pace and the direction and I am merely there to help guide you in the direction you wish to go. I have over 5 years counselling experience where I have worked with a wide range of clients and am able to offer counselling for many issues; please see those listed below.
I realise that counselling is a deeply personal and often scary prospect and that finding the right counsellor is very important to the success of therapy and as such welcome email or phone call enquiries to see if I’m right for you before you attend an appointment. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact me and I look forward to hearing from you.
I'm currently offering walk and talk therapy. I find working outdoors whilst walking deeply beneficial. It's not as clinical as face to face counselling and is proving to provide my clients with a more relaxed and comfortable way of working. I practice on a beautiful country estate just 6 miles east of Norwich where we can walk amongst the many horses who also live here as well as all the wildlife we are graced with. It's not uncommon to share our space with deer, hares and a variety of other wildlife. I feel this adds to our sessions together and it is my hope you will return home, or to work, feeling refreshed from the benefits of the country air and surrounding wildlife.
Each session will last approximately 50 minutes and will usually be weekly, depending on your needs and availability. I offer daytime appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Advance booking is always necessary. It is suggested that we initially contract for at least six sessions.
My first session
Before our first session I will email you some forms and my counselling contract for you to read and gain a better understanding of what counselling is and how we will work together. Then our first session will be slightly different to the rest of therapy as this is an assessment session. We will discuss the forms I've sent, the way I work and then gain a better understanding of what it is you'd like to achieve through counselling; what your goals are and what you'd like to work on. This will all still be done whilst walking at a pace set by you.
By the end of our first session I hope to have gained a better understanding of your presenting issues to assist me in deciding if I can help you and how. You can in turn use this space to see if you feel comfortable enough with me and my way of working before you make any further commitment to begin therapy.
