About me and my therapy practice

My aim as a counsellor is to support and facilitate individuals and couples who are struggling for whatever reason and feel the need to make changes in their lives. I believe our life history and early relationships have a strong influence on how we relate to others and on how we view ourselves as adults, but I do not believe that we are defined by the past. Counselling can at times help make sense of the past and disentangle it from the present and future. I have experience working as a counsellor in the National Health Service and in the voluntary sector. I currently work as a counsellor for a national charity in Reading where I see individuals and couples, as well as seeing private clients in Wokingham. Approaching counselling for the first time can feel like a daunting and confusing prospect. The relationship between you and your counsellor will be central to the therapy and therefore it is important to choose the right person for you. I am very happy to have an initial telephone consultation to look at the issues that you are facing and what I can offer as a therapist.
