About me and my therapy practice

Welcome!  I've been working in private practice for over twenty years, working in a light and spacious room in Odd Down, Bath.

I work with individuals and couples; with young people (over 18) as well as older adults. My approach is integrative and person-centred, drawing on existential and mindfulness-based approaches as well as CBT, ACT and body-oriented theories.

I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am accredited by the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework.

I see people - individuals and couples - with all sorts of problems, as well as those whose goal is to explore their lives further. I am especially interested in helping people with relationship problems, depression, stress & anxiety, chronic illness, difficulties with food and the aftermath of rape & sexual abuse.

I have a Diploma in Supervision from CSTD in Bath and also offer supervision on a one-to-one basis.

Practice description

I work online as well as in the therapy room so you can choose to see me in whichever way feels comfortable.

My first session

The first session is the same length as ongoing sessions, 50 minutes for individuals, 60 for couples, and charged at my usual rate.  During this time, you'll be able to describe what you're looking for from me and I'll ask you about what led you to this point in your life. Importantly, we'll start getting to know one another and working out if we're a good 'fit'.  If you feel comfortable with me, and I feel able to help, we can then make a plan for how our work together will proceed.

About me and my therapy practice

I qualified with a Diploma in Supervision from CTSD Bath in 2017 and really enjoy this aspect of my work. With over 20 years experience in private practice and 10 years working in University Counselling services, I bring a great deal of experience to my supervision practice.  I aim to support your practice and be alongside you through the good times and the tricky times.

I can supervise your work both with individual clients and couples.

My university work means that I have a particular experience working with counsellors seeing clients in this setting, and I'm interested in supervising those working with young people (over 18) more generally.

I enjoy working with trainee counsellors and offer a concessionary rate to supervisees on unpaid placements. I also can support you through BACP's accreditation process.

Practice description

My approach to supervision mirrors my therapeutic approach and so I work integratively and relationally.

My original Diploma from Regent's College, London (1997), is in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling; since then my interests have led me to undertake significant further training in - amongst other areas - trauma, CSA, attachment, Mindfulness and CBT. I am also a qualified Couples Counsellor and trained as an online counsellor long before coronavirus!

Supervisees come from a wide range of modalities although my approach perhaps wouldn't suit someone working strictly within a CBT framework.

My first session

Currently I am working online (Zoom, VSee or Whereby).  Normally I see supervisees at The Sulis Practice, Odd Down, Bath, situated above the Combe Down Branch Surgery in Sulis Manor Raod.  The practice is on several bus routes and has easy, free parking
