About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am a professionally trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and NLP Practitioner but use the Core Conditions of Person Centred Approach to place the clients unique needs at the heart of the counselling sessions.I can work with a wide range of issues and with clients from the age of 16+. If you have a problem in your life that you would like help with then counselling could be part of the answer.
I work from Killearn Therapy Rooms and Ashley Street in Glasgow.
I work with a Person-Centred Counselling approach which uses the core conditions: Acceptance, genuineness and empathy and my aim is to offer you a caring and supportive space where you will feel heard and respected as an individual.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) looks at the interpretation we give to an event and explores the core beliefs that has determined the interpretation.A principle of CBT is that if we can change the way we think then we may be able to change the way we feel. This then can have the ripple effect of changing our behaviour. The main focus of CBT is on the present and the processes that are currently maintaining the problem. We look to challenge unhelpful thinking styles, negative core beliefs and experiment with what may prove to be a healthier, more balanced way of being.
Neuro Linguistic Programming(NLP) is based on communication patterns and structured cognitive exercises that combine conversation, hypnotic language, trance work, visualization, eye movements, physical movement, breathing and posture and is process oriented. The session will normally commence with identifying a specific aspect that the client would like to improve or change and describing the desired outcome or solution.
