About me and my therapy practice
You might be seeking counselling for a specific reason such as experiencing a bereavement or a trauma in your life, or it might be a more general feeling of anxiety, depression or low self-esteem affecting you from day to day. Whatever has brought you to this page, the fact that you are here tells me that you want to relieve your suffering and you have made a courageous step towards doing that today.
The goal of therapy is for us to work together in understanding and overcoming the obstacles in your life, so that you have the opportunity to develop the tools and skills to deal with life's challenges independently. I work by creating a safe space where we can explore this in a non-judgemental way and pave a path towards you becoming the most open and honest version of yourself.
The therapeutic approach I use will depend on your individual needs, but it may include some aspects of CBT, person centred, transactional analysis, creative or mindfulness approaches.
I have worked with adults at a number of different charities in the Manchester area and also with children aged 11+. During my career I have published research in the area of social anxiety and have a particular interest in the use of mindfulness to alleviate anxiety. I can incorporate mindfulness and meditation practices in to our sessions or do them as stand alone coaching.
Currently all sessions will be conducted online via zoom or another platform which can be discussed at your preference. When it is safe to resume face to face work, I will be working from a COVID secure office environment with social distancing, hand sanitizer and ventilation in place.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute consultation before our first session to avoid using precious therapy time discussing practical matters.
If you choose not to have a consultation then the first session with be 1 hour rather than the usual 50 minutes (at no extra cost). This is so we can discuss how we will be working together.
