About me and my therapy practice

Online or Telephone Counselling

With over eleven years of experience in the field of counselling and psychotherapy, I have learned many skills to support people on their journey to wellness, personal development and spiritual growth. Whether clients need to recover from mental illness, trauma and loss or wish to improve their success in relationships or career then I can offer a bespoke approach so that each client has the freedom to work in a way which suits their individual needs.

If you decide that I am the right therapist for you, we will work together with what you bring, with the understanding that we will not simply examine the problem/issue in isolation but as a part of your world, seeing it in the wider context of your life and history.

Outdoor socially Distanced Therapy

My Outdoor practice has emerged through my passion to support people with mental health and personal development needs, along with my love for the natural world. I have over 12 years experience in mental health, addiction, sexual trauma, depression & anxiety.

I have worked with people of all ages and genders as a psychotherapist and I am soon to finish a 2 year Accredited Diploma in Regenerative Eco Psychology and Nature Based Practice through The Natural Academy.

I am also a member of Nature & Health Practitioners Network

Practice description

In my training as a counsellor & psychotherapist,  I have developed a skills set which includes, online counselling, walk and talk therapy, internal family systems, behavioural therapy, attachment focused therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction and therapeutic art and outdoor nature based therapy.

The focus of ecotherapy is to support the participant to connect with the natural environment in a deeper and more meaningful way which helps them to feel safe and held by nature with a skilled practitioner who acts as listener and guide. We use poetry and story, art , nature based mindfulness practices and invitations to find regular sit spots close to home for daily grounding and journaling.

During an ecotherapy session clients are supported in a respectful and nonjudgemental way. Confidentiality is central and crucial to this work and participants are never expected to discuss anything they do not feel ready or able to.

Exactly how the session will unfold will depend on the individual but it may include; talking in depth about situations, feelings and experiences; meditation exercises which help people connect to their environment and feel grounded; focusing on a particular tree, plant, rock, animal or piece of land to find meaning and connection in nature; making something creative using natural found materials.

Participants may also be encouraged to explore their environment to find meaning and mirroring from Nature. This supports greater insights into personal experiences, feelings or issues related to emotions, relationships or certain situations.

My first session

The initial session is taken up with a 75 minute assessment online or telephone. This first session is not the same as a regular therapy session, although you may find it therapeutic. I will explain what counselling is about and how the purpose of this session is to give you the chance to get a feel for how I work, to ask questions and for us to discuss a way forward which will include; the duration of your counselling or psychotherapy, confidentiality & GPDR Privacy Policy, arrangements for cancelled sessions and holidays, but most importantly what you would like to get from your therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

Studies now show that people with strong connections with nature report feeling happier and more content. Being outside in nature brings its own healing element and this combines with exploring the symbols and mirroring that nature can offer to support recovery from mental illness, trauma, stress, anxiety as well as to support personal development and meaningful connection to the natural world.  Most importantly, when humans have a better connection to nature, they take care of the natural world in proactive ways which can restore and heal this beautiful Earth.
