About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor and a BACP  member. Gold Oak Counselling is a warm and non-judgmental space where you can come and be heard. I aim to walk along side you in your journey with empathy and honesty. I strive to help you work through your problems as you see them and towards the future that you see for yourself. I believe that everyone has the ability to change or make changes and there is always hope for the future.

I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I believe that not one single theory has the answer and that each person is unique. I draw on multiple perspectives and theories and the therapeutic experience is created around what works best for each individual. I encourage honesty and work in a way that best suits you.

I have experience of a wide variety of issues such as addiction, disordered eating, depression, anger, anxiety, PTSD, sexual issues, kink, fertility, self-harm, ocd, personality disorders, low self-esteem, relationship issues, work related stress, social anxiety, health anxiety, academic concerns, abandonment and attachment issues, sexual divergence, identity, suicidal feelings and more. I have specialised experience with trauma, sexual abuse and domestic violence

I have an academic grounding with a BSc hons degree in psychology and a foundation degree in counselling as well as a level 4 diploma in counselling. As a BACP member I also ensure that my training is up to date and take on new courses to further develop me as a therapist and to inform my practise.

Practice description

I work with a wide variety of clients and create a safe and non-judgmental space. I specialise in working with trauma and sexual abuse and domestic violence and have worked with many clients with these experiences. I also have a special interest in relationships as well as mental health conditions. I have worked with a wide range of clients and feel privileged to have supported them through their journey.

I offer individual and couples counselling. I am currently working online via zoom and have sessions available. I have a waiting list for face to face clients. I work from a mainly humanistic perspective but I draw on other methodologies and theories to tailor the therapy to best support you. I believe that the relationship is central to the counselling process and I aim to to walk along side you for the part of the journey you choose to share with me. I strive to be honest and empathic and provide an open and trusting space, through which, you can explore and achieve clarity, acceptance and make changes for the better in your lifes.

My first session

I offer a free initial 20-minute telephone session, to get an idea of how I can help you, what your concerns or issues are and to make sure we are a good fit for each other; as the relationship is at the centre of the process. I then offer counselling via zoom (in the current climate) in 50 minute sessions. For couples sessions are 60 minutes. I believe in transparency so I always make my pricing clear.

Initial session - 20 minutes - Free

Individual sessions - 50 minutes - £55 or £200 if you book four sessions

Couples sessions - 55 minutes £75 or £280 if you book four sessions

I do have a limited number of reduced rate sessions for low income and I also offer 10% off any session for Police, Fire and NHS workers

Payment is made when booking your session, following the free initial session. This is done via bank transfer and all the necessary details on how to do this are in my contract, which is sent out to you, via email; after agreeing a date for the first session.
