About me and my therapy practice

I offer a Counselling and Psychotherapy service to individuals, families and young people who may be facing personal difficulties and challenges. I am an accredited Counsellor with over 20 years experience of direct client work particularly with families and young people. I have worked in a range of settings including School, CAMHS and Medical Centres.

I am an accredited Associate  Counsellor with Employee Assistance Programmes and Private Insurance Schemes including Bupa and Nuffield.

Counselling involves providing a safe, containing space for clients to explore their emotional distress. I feel it is important to use the first session to explore ways in which we can work together and address the possible reasons for accessing support at this particular time. I attach great importance in developing a honest, trusting and non- judgemental relationship with my clients.

Although my core training is Psychodynamic I use an integrated approach that brings together different elements of specific therapies. This helps to provide greater flexibility when working with clients and their presenting issues.

I use aspects of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help clients recognise the relationship between thoughts, feelings and actions so to avoid becoming trapped in negative cycles of thought and behaviour.

I am a Mindfulness Practitioner trained to work with young people and adults.

I am able to offer counselling in a range of South Asian languages. Multi -Cultural Counselling can provide a therapeutic space for clients to explore their emotions in their mother tongue which will help them to identify with their inner feelings and positively enhance the client - therapist relationship.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Accredited and experienced Counsellor of Asian origin.

I work mindfully with BAME clients using an Intercultural model of Counselling where cultural and religious and ethnic  norms are recognised and respected.

Great care is taken to acknowledge cultural differences between individuals and not to make assumptions about homogenous communities.

Multi Cultural Counselling requires an understanding, sensitivity, and appreciation of the history values beliefs experiences and lifestyles of clients from BAME communities.

I am able to offer counselling in a range of South Asian languages including Urdu and Punjabi which can enhance the  therapeutic relationship as clients can feel confident to express themselves in a language they feel more comfortable in.

Practice description

I work online using various  platforms including Skype, Google, Zoom and telephone Counselling.

There may be cultural, and or practical logistics impacting on an individual's opportunity to seek support and engage with counselling.

I feel offering this facility will enable clients who may not be able to access face to face sessions greater flexibility and increase their chances of seeking a talking therapy and finding a client they can relate to.
