About me and my therapy practice

I am a relational therapist and take a holistic approach to my clients. Broadly speaking this means I treat the person and not their problem or disorder. Rather than seeing mental health difficulties like depression or anxiety as something wrong with you that need to be fixed, I view them as valid and understandable responses to challenging life experiences.

My work as a therapist is informed by both my academic training as well as my own personal struggles in striving for good mental health. I try to combine my theoretical knowledge of what can help with my own personal understanding of how challenging our lives and struggles can be. I believe this personal experience is key to my success as a therapist and adds a level of understanding and respect for clients that cannot be gained through training alone.

In working with me you will not be dependent on me to do anything ‘to you’ or tell you something special that you don’t know. Rather my role is to create the right conditions for you to develop your sense of self and gain the necessary insights and resources to tackle whatever you are currently facing.

Practice description

I can help with a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, past trauma or low self esteem. I am also interested in helping clients with relationship or family issues who might struggle to resolve conflicts or set boundaries with other people. I believe that many of the difficulties we face have their roots in our early familial relationships and what we learn from our family of origin. I am very interested in exploring how these patterns shape our relationships with others over time, often with the same issues repeating themselves across relationships, families and even generations.

My first session

I tend to offer a fixed appointment at the same time and place every week or fortnight. Sessions last for 60 minutes and my fee is £60 per session.

If you are interested in working with me I invite you to get in touch via my contact form or via email. We can arrange an initial call to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy any questions you might have about me or the way I work. You can then choose to arrange an Initial Consultation (with no obligation) where we can meet each other and decide if we might want to begin working together.

I know first hand how nerve wracking it can be to meet with a therapist. It is my hope that you will find me a friendly and welcoming presence with whom all your thoughts and feelings can be explored freely without judgement. I will do my best to help you get comfortable talking with me and together we can figure out what you most need help with....and hopefully leave you feeling better in the process!
