About me and my therapy practice
I am a friendly, caring and passionate counsellor. I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can explore what has brought you to seek counselling, and we can work through your problems together. Or perhaps you are not completely sure what is wrong? Working with me can help you discover what is making you unhappy, so you can get more satisfaction out of your life.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a qualified couples counsellor. I am a member of the BACP and I have a broad spectrum of experience counselling different people, of different ages, from all walks of life.
My previous experience involved working with referrals from GPs. In addition to my private individual work, I am also a Relate counsellor and a student counsellor. I am also able to see couples on a private basis (rate for this is £55).

I offer affordable rates and I am based in Stockport. I am easy to access by public transport or by car. There is free car parking available on site.
The practice where I work is based in The Heatons in Stockport. The room is large enough to enable social distancing, with an accessible window to allow fresh air to blow between us into the room. Hand sanitisers are available and must be used. Wearing of a face covering with a minimum of two layers, and/or visor are now compulsory to be worn throughout the session, as well as on entrance and exit to the building.
There is free car parking outside the premises, or on the adjoining road. Public transport links are good with bus stops close by for 197 and 42A buses. The 42 and 23/A stop about a 10-15 minute walk away. The train station and tram stop are a longer walk away but still accessible.
Face to face sessions are available, but your individual circumstances will determine whether it is appropriate for us to have the session in person. I am also conducting sessions via zoom, so please do consider this option if you are in any vulnerable category. If you are a key worker and come in to contact with large numbers of people on a daily basis, I might make the decision to conduct your session via zoom.
My first session
I understand coming for counselling can feel scary, but I assure you I am here to help, not to judge or even make your decisions for you. Our work is collaborative, and we will be working together to help you overcome them to lead a more fulfilling life.
At your first session, I will make you feel welcome and we'll go through a confidentiality agreement (this outlines when I have to break confidentiality) and what to expect from counselling. Then you will have the opportunity to explore your reasons for seeking therapy and what you would like to get out of counselling. So have a think about these things before your first session.
If you are still unsure, you are welcome to book in for one session to see how it feels for you. There is no obligation to rebook.
Cancellation policy: minimum of 48 hours or the full session price will be charged. Coronavirus exception: if NHS track and trace have asked you to self-isolate, you have tested positive, or have coronavirus symptoms, the late cancellation fee will be waived.
