About me and my therapy practiceAbout me:
I find working with clients therapeutically a great privilege. The process of counselling and psychotherapy works differently for each individual, but whatever you choose to share, I will handle confidentially, sensitively and non-judgementally. My personality as a therapist is approachable, honest and enthusiastic.
How counselling can help:
Often we can lose sight of how much internal conversations, stories and feelings are holding us back. I offer a safe and calming space to air those thoughts and feelings and work together to move forward. The experience of counselling can help you to explore new parts of yourself, or bring you to a new path that you may not have been able to see before.
My aim is for us to establish an open, trusting, and often relaxed relationship, which helps you to be vulnerable, explorative and creative with yourself. I know from experience that opening up to a new person in this way can feel daunting. However, in all of our lives there are times of discomfort, darkness, and beauty, and my hope is that our sessions are a place for you to embrace all of this; to laugh, cry, vent, or gain a moment of reflection or calm.
My set up:
Currently I am offering phone & zoom sessions due to covid.
My counselling space 'The Garden Therapy Room', is in my conservatory. There are colourful views of plants inside and out, with a light, cosy, welcoming atmosphere.
My first session
My specialisms: are working with loss, grief & transitions. I am trauma informed & have worked with survivors. I am a trained and very experienced Bereavement Counsellor.
My approach: Incorporates humanistic, existential and person centred theories. This means that I believe that all of us have natural instincts towards healing and that each unique person has the power to shape their identity and how they respond to life. So rather than advising you, I will help you access your own resources and gradually move in a direction you feel is authentic.
