About me and my therapy practice
I am an accredited psychodynamic therapist qualified to masters level with many years experience, offering therapy for adults, children, adolescents and families. Daytime or evening appointments are available in my rooms in Giffnock at the rear of a busy community church building with free parking and good train/bus links.
Anyone can experience challenging times and struggle with difficult feelings and I offer my services as a space to think together, as a way to try and make sense of the emotions and manage some of the feelings in order to cope better with life. As a psychodynamic therapist I explore the place of the problem in relation to the past as well as present, in a relational-type approach that means we enter into a joint exploration of the issue.
I have over 25yrs experience of working with individuals, children and young people, families, parents and professionals. I work with a variety of personal and professional issues, see the list below. A large part of my practice is spent offering therapy to parents struggling with their child’s behaviour or with the challenges of adolescence. I often work with parents and the child or young person together and also with children and young people directly.
I am fully qualified with a Masters in Psychoanalytic Therapeutic work with Children and Young People with Human Development Scotland and The University of Strathclyde. A Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Therapy with Manor House Centre for Psychotherapy, London and I have also completed levels 1 & 2 of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and on the BACP Register of Psychotherapists and Counsellors.
