About me and my therapy practice

Hi my name is Margaret I am an  'Accredited, Person Centred' therapeutic counsellor. My aim is to provide you with a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space in which to explore your concerns. You may have specific needs such as help with distressing life events such as bereavement, loss, addictions or help with conditions such as anxiety or depression. Perhaps you need to explore personal experiences or you would like to enhance your personal effectiveness.

My Person Centred approach to counselling offers you the opportunity to move into a state in which feelings can be fully felt, accepted and expressed appropriately, combined with trust and acceptance of self.

I am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) This means that I adhere to the highest standards of Professional and Ethical Practice. So you can be assured that you are in 'safe hands'.

Practice description

From my therapy room in Harrogate I deliver face to face and remote counselling (for which I have received additional training)  Sessions are 1 hour in duration.

I can offer up to 30mins for an informal introductory session free of charge to allow you to make a more informed decision before committing to therapy.

All of my work adheres to the BACP ethical framework meaning that you can be assured of the highest standards of ethical and safe practice.

My first session

First sessions naturally involve some time for me to get to know a bit about you.   We will go through my therapeutic contract together, I will explain what's involved and you will have a chance to ask questions and voice your concerns.

I will need to collect some information from you about yourself. This time spent in explanation and describing boundaries during the first session is vital and helps to provide a foundation for our work together, where hopefully you will feel that you are in 'safe hands'
