About me and my therapy practice
My name is Leigh Loveday. I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor and therapist and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). In order to maintain professional standards and client safety I adhere strictly to their ethical framework.
I view every human experience as unique, alongside the belief that our perception of the world around us is also unique to the individual. It is my aim as your therapist, to view your life through your eyes and to feel what you feel. I believe that when a client feels genuine, non-judgemental love and care from the counsellor and feels deeply listened to and empathised with, a natural healing begins to take place. In addition to offering you these conditions, I will endeavour to show up to each session as my authentic, genuine self. This enables you to feel safe enough to do the same and will encourage you to open up to me about your issues, fears and concerns.
I do not take the role of the expert and I do not offer solutions to your problems; I believe that you hold all the answers within. I will journey alongside you, as you discover your own innate wisdom.
The quality of the relationship between therapist and client is the key to a successful therapeutic outcome. I am a warm, loving, and friendly individual and it is my hope that you feel comfortable, safe and relaxed in my company. I welcome you as you are and look forward to meeting you.
I will predominately work with you from a person-centred, client-led approach. I do not take the role of the expert, rather our sessions are a collaboration and a relationship whereby we work together at your pace to meet your specific goals. My aim for you is that you begin to feel a sense of personal empowerment, develop self-awareness and live a more satisfying, confident and autonomous life.
I offer counselling for adults only on a one-to-one basis. This is face to face in my therapy room. It is very important to me that you feel comfortable, and as such I have taken great care in creating a very warm and inviting space for you which is completely private and confidential.
We begin by having an initial conversation, in person or on the phone, whatever suits you. This is usually around half an hour, is free of charge and with no further obligation. It is a chance for us to engage with each other and to chat about your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. I will also answer any of your questions or concerns. This initial consultation offers us the space to get to know each other before you embark upon your healing journey with me, if that is what you choose to do.
In order to support you to the best of my abilities, I attend monthly supervision sessions with a BACP accredited supervisor.
I hold full professional liability insurance and am DBS checked and cleared.
To continue to maintain high professional standards I also undertake continual professional development (CPD) in line with the BACP rules and regulations.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are £50. Payments can be made by bank transfer once you have receive my invoice.
