About me and my therapy practice
Welcome and thank you for looking at my counselling profile. Perhaps you are considering counselling because you are struggling with difficult feelings and emotions.
People come to counselling for lots of different reasons. Sometimes we experience a sense of being alone even thouigh we are surrounded by people, or struggling generally with our relationships. Sometimes we feel we cannot cope, or just need someone to talk to.
I am a trained therapist in working with Adults, Children, and Couple Counselling.
I am an integrative therapist which means I draw from different approaches. I lean toward compassion focused therapy and also that of ‘parts work’ which is similar to that of IFS Therapy.
I use psychodynamic approach which is useful when we look at the attachments we have made throughout our lives and finding our resilience in times of struggles.
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Contemporary Trauma Practice. The way that trauma affects each and every one of us is different and having a space to explore this is vital. I will help you understand how your life can be different through refocusing and tuning in to your inherent wisdom which you all have. Trauma can be sudden or it can be caused because of lack of nurture or abuse. Whatever the reason, it is most helpful to talk this through rather than keep it locked away.
I have extensive experience of working with adopters, adoptees, and children or adults who have been in the care system.
In couples work it is enormously useful to have the space to talk as often the pressures on relationships are enormous. The strains can stop us from understanding what’s really going on for us underneath. I try and help couples use this space to develop new knowledge and understanding. This can help with compassion, and build new way of thinking and being.

I often suggest that you make sure to buy a journal or have a spare book that you can write in between sessions. This is often helpful as therapy will bring up things for you and it’s good to note them down, and process them.
It’s good to use other forms of expression too but it all depends on how you work . Some people like to draw and paint and work with clay and some like to garden.
We can identify this in the sessions. I might send videos or talks to you if you are interested but this will be agreed.
During the sessions-it’s about giving you the space to to talk and say whatever you need. You might not even know what this is right now and that’s okay because we can figure that out together.
In couples work it is extremely useful to have the space to talk as often the pressures on relationships is enormous at times. These strains can stop us from understanding what’s really going on. Taking the time to explore with couples, I use this space to develop new knowledge and understanding. I work in a relational way, which means that we have to become aware of how we are affecting each other. This can help with compassion for ourselves and each other and build new way of thinking and being. It is often in this space that couples can appreciate their partner’s experience and this is crucial in making positive changes.
