I am currently working with clients in person, at my  covid safe, counselling room in Knottingley. My working hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.30am to 5pm (latest appointment time 4pm).

About me and my therapy practice

People often turn to counselling when life becomes overwhelming or confusing. As a person-centred counsellor, I recognise that most clients enter counselling in an anxious and vulnerable state. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment, where clients can explore their thoughts or feelings about whatever issues they choose to bring to sessions. I work together with my clients to help them make sense of what’s happening in their lives and what options are available to them. I hold a qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which can be useful to challenge unhelpful or damaging, behaviours and thoughts. I have also trained with the National Centre for Eating Disorders and am an experienced Eating Disorder Practitioner. I hope to empower people so that they feel stronger and better equipped to deal with life’s many challenges. To help clients decide whether I am the right counsellor for them, I offer an initial  session for a reduced fee of £30, subsequent 50 minute sessions are £40 each. For Eating Disorder Therapy I charge £65 for an initial 90 minutes session and £50 for each subsequent 50 minutes session. Students/Trainee Counsellors/Apprentices/Unwaged - £30 per session. I am happy to discuss reduced fees for long-term therapy. I work face-to-face and via Skype – or a mixture of both.

Practice description

My comfortable counselling room is located in a discreet location, with a private entrance and free parking available on the surrounding roads. There are toilet facilities on the premises. Unfortunately, there isn't space for a waiting room so ask that clients do not arrive early to appointments.

I work hard to protect my clients's confidentiality and to ensure this - I allow 15 minutes between appointments - which provides time for refreshing the room and prevents clients from the possibility of meeting other clients arriving or leaving.

Please note that there is one flight of steps to the premises and NO wheel-chair access.

My first session

Because I recognise how important it is to find the right counsellor - I offer an initial session at a reduced fee, so that we can explore what you want from counselling, how it might help you and whether I am the right counsellor for you to work with. If I feel that you would benefit from referring on to a service or another counsellor more suitable for your needs, then I would do this and there would be no charge for the session.
