About me and my therapy practice
My name is Stephen and let me tell you a little bit about how I approach counselling and therapy as well as a little bit about me...
At the heart of my approach to counselling I offer a warm, welcoming and safe environment where you can share freely about whatever it is that brings you to seek support, without judgement, blame or criticism. In counselling I offer a place and a process where you can find your own inner resources as well as discover what your best direction in life is at any given time.
About me - I am an experienced counsellor who has worked for many years in a range of public and commissioned health-care services and agencies. I also have a long and rich experience of about 23 years in the field of pastoral work and service. I have lived and worked abroad in New York, Seattle and Central America where I engaged with different cultures and responded to diverse needs. I have worked with people of all ages from 18 years upwards, including students, young adults and older adults. I am passionate about what I do. I know too the value and benefits of a professional helping relationship outside of one’s family and friends where a person can talk about whatever they need to - be it about the past and/or the present. At all times, I promise to – honour your sharing – to respect your own lived experience – and – to value you as a person.
I am also qualified in the use of hypnotherapy which can be integrated into my counselling approach to help reduce stress and anxiety, increase calmness, confidence as well as deeper levels of relaxation.
