About me and my therapy practice
I am a Registered and Accredited BACP member and provide face to face, Zoom, and online therapy. I am currently working remotely from home in York but I have been providing online support to people internationally for many years.
My practice does not have specific focus but I have many years experience of supporting individuals and their families who have experienced stress, anxiety or depression during transitions; or who want support to navigate through any change or upheaval.
I am highly empathic to people experiencing transitions or major life changes; or who have to make difficult choices or decisions for themselves or their families. I have spent the last 20 years living and working between the UK and South Africa, Nigeria, Thailand, DRC and Sudan. You may not have faced these specific challenges but I understand the dilemmas of decision making and of facing difficult choices in everyday life.
I have years of experience working online using Zoom and Skype to connect to people whom I have been unable to meet with face to face; and have trained in online therapy.
I also have experience of working with the impact of trauma and have worked in communities affected by conflict where I provided individual therapy as well as training and support for professional trauma therapists.
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space where you can focus on discussing experiences and emotions that are of concern to you. The aim is for you to gain awareness of the possibilities for making meaningful changes to your life and to examine the choices that are available to you.
I take an Integrative approach to Counselling. My core training is Humanistic but I integrate other perspectives and techniques in order to meet the needs of my clients. I am pluralist in my approach, which means I work with clients to find out what will best work for them rather than being prescriptive and collaborate on the issues they bring so that they can find their best course of action.
I do not tell people what to do or give you advice, but at times encourage clients to challenge themselves and their previously held thoughts and beliefs.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of good counselling. Insight, growth and change can be nurtured through a close therapeutic relationship in which the client feels valued and safe.

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss how counseling may work for you and for us to agree how to proceed.
