About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my page,
My name is Faye and I am a counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and BPS (British Psychological Society). My training is underpinned by combining Counselling with the rigour of Psychology. I currently specialise in CBT, Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches to therapy although I tend to work integratively. I also have experience with schema therapy, systemic therapy and narrative therapy. This means that I use a range of therapeutic techniques, underpinned by both theory and research to best suit the needs of the client. Each client is unique and my aim is to honour that by avoiding a one size fits all approach.
I aim to offer a safe and calm approach that is rooted in compassion and understanding to fit your needs, difficulties and concerns.
I work specifically, through a non-judgemental, warm, accepting, authentic therapeutic relationship with each person to aid them on their journey to recovery in order to gain a better sense of self to reach their full potential. I firmly believe that evidenced practice should be at the heart of therapy and I aim to work with all my clients through a collaborative therapeutic relationship.
My work experience includes, Medium-secure Psychiatric hospitals, NHS, children's homes, schools, counselling services in the charity sector, Residential Parenting Assessment units and the Samaritans (4 years). I have experience with working with clients with, depression, bereavement, grief/loss, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, low self-esteem, phobias and trauma.

My first session
The assessment session gives you the opportunity to explore your reasons for seeking therapy. This includes, talking about your present difficulties, background history and other relevant information. Most importantly, this is an opportunity for you to identify your hopes and expectations of therapy. If you wish to proceed, we will agree to meet on a weekly basis at an agreed time.
I offer six sessions initially, in addition to the assessment session, for those who would like longer term therapy the sixth session tends to be a review session to review the work and it is at this point where we discuss if further sessions are needed for longer term therapy.
