I am available for face to face appointments.

I also offer online appointments where needed.

'After school' times are usually busy. Where an 'after school' time is not currently available for a child or young person, I will either try and offer you an alternative time and/ or add you to a short waiting list for an 'after school' place.

Alternatively, I would be able to refer you to other local practitioners.

About me and my therapy practice

I am in private practice in North Shields where I see children, teenagers and adults. (I also meet with parents as a necessary part of the work with a child or young person.)

My general approach;

I offer an 'at-depth' psychological approach, which is able to address more serious or recurring problems, which may not have been helped by other forms of therapy.

As well as offering adult counselling and psychotherapy for a wide range of issues, I have a particular interest in and experience of therapeutic work with adults who have acute or recurring difficulties. These may include problems with personal or work relationships; ongoing anxiety and/ or depression; managing anger; OCD; psychosomatic problems, eating disorders; patterns of addiction or addictive behaviour; self-harm, difficulties with a sense of self. These sorts of problems may be the result of difficulties from childhood or adolescence which were not able to be attended to at the time.

I offer therapeutic work with children and teenagers, (4yo-18yo), and am able to see children and young people with a wide range of emotional and/ or behavioural problems.

I mainly work via non-directional play for children, which allows a child to express themselves in their own way. It is very natural, allowing the child to be entirely themselves in the room. While my response to them is also natural, it is based on my clinical thinking and understanding. The outcome is that a child gradually feels and manages better.

I have considerable experience in working with children who have serious developmental problems. I have generally seen that many of these children are able to achieve significant improvements in all areas.

I offer a flexible, indirect approach for teenagers, adapted to the needs of each young person.

I originally trained in adult counselling, however, I have undertaken significant further specialist training to work with children and teenagers. I have been in my own practice for more than 10 years.
