About me and my therapy practice
An accredited counsellor, I have more than 15 years of experience in private practice, the health service and faith communities. I work with individuals and couples and also provide supervision for counsellors, ministers, health care professionals and others offering pastoral care. My approach is integrative, using perspectives from different counselling traditions. I offer skype , zoom, and telephone sessions as well as face to face.
How can counselling help?
By exploring difficulties in this safe, confidential space, you may find yourself feeling more in control of your life, able to make decisions and positive life choices and to understand things that have happened to you.
I provide counselling for various issues, including anxiety, panic, depression, relationship difficulties, historic childhood sexual abuse, rape and sexual trauma, domestic abuse, grief and loss, workplace stress or just simply feeling sad, and lacking hope or direction. I am able to work in a short term, solution focused framework, and also work long term over months or years if this is needed.
It may feel daunting to take the first step in making contact, but this may the best thing you could possibly do at the moment to get the help you need.
What will happen in the first session?
We will spend an hour together in which you and I will both be able to ask and answer questions to help to clarify what is needed.
Ongoing counselling
Further sessions will be mutually agreed. Number of sessions and how often they happen and when the counselling comes to an end will all be decided upon in consultation with you.
What to do next
Call me or email me and we can arrange to meet for an initial session.
Practice description
At the present time of corona virus pandemic I work on zoom or phone with people experiencing the effects of long-covid, as well as people suffering the grief of loss of loved ones during the pandemic, and issues around work/ redundancy and stress relating to loneliness and isolation.
When it is possible to meet again in person, I have a bespoke counselling room which is light, and spacious. It is accessible on the level and is suitable for people with limited mobility.
My first session
The first session will be for us to get to know each other and to discuss the focus of the work. You may ask questions yourself, and I will ask you a number of things to help us to discover if I am the right person to help you at this time. You are not obliged to attend any further sessions, but if we agree to work together we will make further appointments at mutually agreed times.
