About me and my therapy practice
Why would you consider therapy? There could be all sorts of reasons, whether a specific issue or circumstance, or just a desire to better understand yourself, your life and your relationships with others.
I’m a BACP accredited psychotherapist with an MA in psychotherapy and counselling. I work in Denmark Hill, with over 15 years' experience of offering both short and long term therapy.
I view therapy as a joint process, a way to make sense of things in a safe, non-judgemental environment. I aim to work creatively and collaboratively with you. I don’t view myself as the expert on your life, but someone who can explore with you the things that give it meaning. I will ask you questions to open things up or to get specific. Therapy with me is a space for you to think about and explore what you want to and to focus on what you want for yourself.
You might have a particular issue you wish to think about, for example anxiety, depression, psychosomatic illness, bereavement, pregnancy and parenthood, relationship difficulties, sexual issues, addiction, cultural issues or low self-esteem. Or you might just feel that this is the right time to explore and discuss your life, your choices and expectations, and any changes you want to make.
My first session
Is an opportunity for you to think about what brings you to therapy, your goals and what you want from therapy. And whether you feel comfortable enough to continue working with me.
