About me and my therapy practice
Independent, Professional Supervision
I am able to offer an independent, professional, confidential service, a professional relationship which is ethical, nurturing, encouraging, motivating, safeguarding and provides mentoring. Supervision is a great source of information, guidance and reflection. This is offered to trainee counsellors, qualified counsellors or other professionals working in the care/education systems.
In accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Code of Ethical Practice, supervision is an obligatory requirement for Counsellors and Psychotherapists in practice.
Supervision is an opportunity to reflect on practice, to gain insight, discover what is going well in work and gain learning on how to improve practice/service we offer others when things go wrong/we are feeling stuck. Supervision is to process any feelings evoked by work, to discuss strategies used, encourage and motivate the supervisee in their personal and professional development. Standards of care are discussed to promote best practice and gain positive outcomes.
Supervision for Teams/Organisations
Supervision is a safe space to reflect on practice, self, skills, impact, gain insight, self awareness, learn and grow on how best to enhance the service we offer to others.
I work collaboratively with supervisees supporting and empowering them to continue developing their safe and ethical practice when working with others.
We discuss an agenda, how the supervisee would like to use the session, maintain boundaries. 90 mins sessions or 1hr x2 sessions per month for trainees.
My first session
The first session is about getting to know the supervisee, their needs, agreeing how we will work together, reading through an agreement.
Sometimes a supervisor may not be a good fit for a supervisee, I discuss and allow space for supervisee to reflect and consider if they wish to begin working with me-like the clients, the supervisee would also have their own choice to proceed.
I like to review the supervision process at 6 sessions to see if supervisee feels their needs are being met and the process is effective.
