I currently have two evening appointments left.About me and my therapy practice
Counselling isn't just for people with mental health issues, it’s a space to talk through whatever is worrying you, no matter how big or small that my seem to you - it matters and what you have to say matters and I want to be there for you.Do you find that you often put others needs above your own? Perhaps you've forgotten what it’s like to even think about yourself, your wants and your needs. We've all heard the saying that it’s good to talk, but have you noticed that people rarely listen?. Do they really listen and take in what you are saying without offering unsolicited advice?.Maybe you are met with unhelpful suggestions as to how you can feel better or “snap out of it”. Well, counsellors don't do that, I won’t do that. I will listen and really hear you. I will try to understand what you are going through and help you find ways to move forward.I am genuinely interested in what you have to say, I want to hear about your experiences. I want to help you feel better, by truly getting to know you and holding a safe space so I can sit beside you in your pain.It might be the only time in your life where it is just about you, a space to be heard and truly understood without any outside stressors. If now's the time you've decided you would like to go ahead and speak to a counsellor, as scary as that may seem (and counselling doesn’t have to be scary!) you've already made the first step; the next step would be to contact me either by email at emmakellycounselling@hotmail.com or by phone/text on 07933957478.Contact meemmakellycounselling@hotmail.comPractice description
I am an integrative counsellor which means that you are the sole focus of the work we do together, and I will draw upon different methods to find the best possible way to help you. You are a unique individual, and I will take your lead and work with you in a way which suits you best. I do not believe that one approach fits all. I use a non-directive approach (I am not going to tell you what to do), in order to understand your world through your eyes. I have worked with anxiety, relationship breakdown, adult and childhood trauma, self-destructive behaviour, depression, low self-esteem and bereavement. Sometimes past events can keep affecting us for a long time, and I can help you to manage that.I work with both adults and adolescents/teenagers age 16+.My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, to ask any questions you might have or share any reservations. It will be a very relaxed session where we can explore how we can work together, what I offer and discuss what you want and need from counselling. I will carry out a short initial risk assessment with you in the first appointment, then we can arrange a suitable time and date for our next session. What I can help with
