About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist offering daytime and evening appointments to people looking for solutions to immediate problems, or seeking deeper change through a longer term exploration. I am currently working by video link due to the pandemic and hoping to return to in-person face to face work as soon as this is safe.

My approach is to encourage you to explore difficulties or areas of distress in your life, and work with you to help you find a way forward. Depending on what you want out of your therapy and the kind of problems you have, I will draw from a range of psychological and practical approaches to support you in making changes.

Whether you want just a few sessions of counselling or would like to work for longer to explore issues in your life in more depth, I can help. You may come seeking support in a crisis, facing mental health challenges, looking for a way to handle relationship difficulties, working through a bereavement, or needing to work through trauma and its impact on you.

Please feel free to get in touch and ask questions or to make an appointment. I offer a reduced-fee initial session costing £25 for us to meet to help decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist which means I use a range of psychological theories offered in an empathic, accepting relationship which puts your needs and opinions first.

Whatever difficulties you are facing, the way you see things and what works for you is what is most important, and I will work with you on gaining the insight and skills to help you make the changes you want to make.

As an integrative counsellor, part of my approach is to provide a person centred environment using the principles outlined by Carl Rogers - one which offers empathy for your feelings and viewpoint, unconditional positive regard, and a real human relationship. I also think with you about how your difficulties may have arisen, and where helpful may look with you at experiences which will have shaped you, including your family, social and cultural background.

My first session

I offer a reduced rate first session with a fee of £25 so we can meet and decide whether it would be helpful to you for us to work together - different people have different needs, preferences and expectations.

This session is an opportunity for you to tell me a bit about what has brought you to therapy and what you might want to change in your life, and to ask me questions. We might think about whether to  work together on a session by session basis, set a fixed number of sessions to focus on a particular goal, or consider whether therapy on a longer term basis might be needed to help you make the changes you need to make. We can either decide together, or take some time to consider further.

I offer a limited number of reduced-fee slots, and if you are unable to pay my full fee we can discuss a reduced fee depending on your circumstances.
