Counselling can offer you a safe and secure space to explore the challenges you are currently facing and give you an opportunity to explore all the depths and dimensions to who you are and who you are becoming. I want to collaboratively work with you to help you explore an open and honest relationship with yourself that will give you a greater sense of self and build wisdom and resilience whilst being compassionate to yourself.
To "thy self be true" because yourself is what you are at all times and in all places and you have the power to achieve the changes you desire.
As an integrative counsellor I am able to integrate a wide range of approaches, techniques and skills to work with the client to find what approach is best suited to their needs. This approach prioritises the client’s needs, as one size does not fit all and attempts to find a ‘good fit’ for the client based on their preferences, circumstances, styles of thinking, feeling and behaving. The integrative approach to therapy is effective in working with client’s to facilitate change and achieve positive outcomes because the client is at the heart of the process.
I view the counselling and psychotherapy journey as a collaborative process between the therapist and the client, which is rooted in the values of client empowerment, respect and genuineness. As the client I believe that you have the right to take part in decisions about how you are to be helped and I am here to listen and help you take action.
I work with the uniqueness of being human to create a therapeutic relationship that is suited to the clients needs in order to achieve their desired outcome.
The values and philosophies that influence my practice are embedded in the core conditions of being empathetic, genuine and having unconditional positive regard for my client. I hope that by demonstrating these core conditions I create a therapeutic relationship that is based on trust, safety, acceptance and understanding.
My practice is embedded in evidenced based research, which means by using an Integrative approach, I employ a variety of techniques to respond to the needs and preferences of individual clients. The different approaches I intergate are Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive behavioural Therapy(CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT),Psychodynamic, Psychoanalysis, Transactional Analysis and Humanistic Therapy.
I practice in a safe, effective and ethical way by maintaining an ongoing personal and professional development. I recognises the importance of having an awareness of the multicultural and social context in which we work and live and value and respect clients from all walks of life. I practice in a non-discriminative way and work within the Equality Act 2010 and BACP Ethical Framework (2016).
Due to the current pandemic I am offering online and telephone counselling session.
My first session
Our first session will be the initial assessment session to explore what brings you to counselling, your presenting issues, how you think counselling might help you, what is on offer and how we can work together to help you get the most from counselling.
The first session will aim to be a working agreement where we agree what is going to happen in the session and how. This session aims to empower you as the client, giving you a choice within the counselling relationship and checking your understanding as we go along.
The counselling sessions will generally be weekly. We would agree a regular day and time of our sessions, which will ordinally last 50 minutes from start to finish.
If for any reason you need to cancel a session, I would need 24 hours notice.I am flexible and where possible will do my best to rearrange to suit your needs.
