About me and my therapy practice
There are times in life when we might feel continuously low, anxious, trapped, confused or overwhelmed. I can offer you a safe, non-judgmental and nurturing environment which will assist you in exploring your pain or difficulties and by working alongside you, help you work towards acceptance or change. I have forty years experience in the caring professions and have worked alongside people with a wide variety of issues. My work as a nurse and counsellor, alongside my own personal difficulties, have helped me to have a better understanding of some of the issues that clients bring to counselling.
I work predominantly as a psychodynamic counsellor believing that relationships in our early lives have a great influence on our adult lives. Therapy enables clients to examine past relationships, that may be causing us to feel stuck, and assist us in finding new patterns of behaviour and ways of thinking.
Since qualifying, I have also developed an integrative style of working with clients which bring together different elements of other therapy styles. More importantly though, I believe that each client needs to be considered a unique individual and that counselling techniques need be tailored to suit specific needs.
