- Flexible hours available
- Available for home visits
Please note: I will be taking a career break as of Wednesday the 16th of June 2021. I don't currently know when I will be returning, but will update my profile upon my return.
Initially I offer a free 10 - 15 minute phone call so that you can ask any questions that you might have. We can also talk about practicalities, including mutual availability.
The phone call is also a great stepping stone into therapy, particularly if you are feeling anxious about making contact.
I am currently offering remote counselling with a view to returning to face to face session in the Autumn, depending on what is happening regarding COVID-19.
I can offer remote sessions via WhatsApp, Face Time, Skype and Zoom and Telephone.
About me and my therapy practice
Is your anxiety taking over?
Hi, I’m Lois and I’m a Counsellor specialising in anxiety.
Do you often feel…
Afraid as though something awful might happen?
Worried about doing things, even ‘little things’?
Unable to stop or control worrying?
Nervous, anxious or on edge?
That you worry too much about different things?
As though other people are annoyed with you?
So restless that it’s hard to sit still?
Easily annoyed or irritable?
As though life is ‘on pause’, or that you’re always ‘holding your breath’?
That it is difficult for you to relax?
Do you often experience...
An increased heart rate, sweaty palms, dizziness, belly butterflies, racing thoughts, muscle tension, jelly legs... for seemingly small reasons?
If your answer is yes to some or all of the above questions, I believe that I can help you.
A certain amount of anxiety is healthy and useful, but too much of it can negatively affect our…
... it can affect anything and everything.
So, how can I help?
I can offer…
A dedicated space for you to explore your anxiety without judgement.
Insight into your unique experience of anxiety.
Weekly sessions where you will feel heard and understood.
Techniques that you can do to reduce the physical sensations associated with anxiety.
Tools, resources and knowledge that you can use to manage your anxiety, day to day.
An assessment tool which will enable us to monitor your anxiety levels over time.
There is also the opportunity for...
Meditation and Breathing, tailored to suit your individual needs.
The use of various craft materials and objects as an alternative way of exploring your anxiety.
Walk and Talk Therapy, if you are someone who prefers to be ‘on the move’ when you talk.
Unless you decide on Walk and Talk Therapy, our sessions will take place in my therapy cabin which has beautiful and calming views of fields and distant trees.
As a Counsellor I consider it good practice to be in therapy myself, and I remember the anxious feelings of my first session very well. I therefore hope to be able to put you at ease as soon as you get in touch.
My first session
I think that the first session is a really good chance for you to get a sense of how you feel talking to me. There will also be plenty of time for you to ask any questions that you might have, too.
The first session is a little bit different to future sessions because it involves me taking some general information from you, asking some questions and writing a few notes.
