About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Jenny Freeman and I am trained in delivering Person-Centred, Humanistic and Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I work remotely, nationwide using telephone and Zoom and also face-to-face in Guildford, Surrey.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and with a wide range of issues.
I will work alongside you to try to understand what is at the root of your distress, for issues including anxiety, depression, addiction, bereavement/loss, divorce and betrayal, for example.
Often mental distress can overshadow every part of life. My aim is to help alleviate mental pain, to find deeper understanding, to find healthy ways to cope, to place a high value on your mental health and to explore what else might be possible within the constraints of day-to-day life. I offer acceptance and the willingness to accompany you through your explorations of life's hurts, whatever they may be.
Working with adults 16 and over, I also work specifically with clients in addiction recovery, and with their friends and family members.
Why not get in touch to arrange a no-obligation telephone call.
This call is designed to see if we may be well-suited to working together. I work remotely UK-wide on the phone or on Zoom, so you can fit therapy easily into your life and to minimise any Covid concerns about face-to-face meetings that you may have.
I have a strong belief in the ability of humans to heal and to overcome, no-matter what has gone before.
Whatever brings you to counselling, I offer to listen deeply and attempt to understand your world, in your words. We will discover how best to approach your challenges together, so please get in touch to see if I am the right person to help.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to give me a call or send me an email, I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Practice description
I am trained as a Person-Centred/Existential counsellor.
My clients come to therapy usually because they would like to change how they are feeling. I will help you examine what needs to change, and why.
I will accompany you in your explorations and I will listen deeply to try and understand your world, from your point of view.
I won't judge you for what I hear. By working this way, I can help you to see more clearly what might be confusing or suppressed and this helps to uncover how it may be possible to find acceptance of the past and transform painful feelings into new hope.
My aim is to help you to uncover the root cause of the issue and find out how to change to facilitate a better quality of life. Therapy is a process and I am there to help you move towards feeling better, across a number of sessions. We will discuss what you are hoping to gain from therapy so we can be sure we are working towards this.
The existential element of my work involves an opportunity for my clients to think about what their true values are, and how to live in that expresses these. The more authentic and free we are to be ourselves, the more we can notice that life flows better and that symptoms of anxiety and depression are lessened.
I also volunteer as a Counsellor at Catalyst, a Drug and Alcohol Counselling service in Surrey, where I work with people in addiction recovery and their friends & family members.

In my first session we will go through the previously provided contract, to mutually agree to the terms of our working relationship.
