About me and my therapy practice
The person-centred counselling I can offer to a child or young person aims to help their personal, educational and social needs. I am specifically trained in working with children up to the age of 18 years.
A key advantage of integrative therapy is its flexibility and focus on the whole individual and meeting the unique needs of each child. It is particularly useful with children and young people who are dealing with anxiety, low moods, difficult feelings, relationship issues, trauma, loss and low self-esteem.
This space gives children and young people time for them and the opportunity to work through their big feelings which can sometimes affect their behaviour.
This approach would be most suitable for children who feel comfortable with counselling online from their own home. All online sessions with clients must be in private and have parental consent.
Working together, children can find a path toward better well-being, make better sense of their world and with the right support, the opportunity of building their own confidence and resilience.
I am currently working online in my private practice and counselling at schools in Suffolk. I am an integrative therapist trained specifically to work with children and young people up to the age of 18 yrs.
I have a Child Counselling Diploma from the Institute of Arts in Therapy and Education and a Post Graduate Certificate in The Therapeutic Arts (UEL). I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I attend regular supervision to adhere to the BACP's strict code of practice, have the Certificate in Counselling Skills and have up to date Safeguarding and Child Protection training.
I have an enhanced DBS check and hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
My first session
My first session will involve speaking with the client’s parents and assessing what may be going on for their child. This assessment may take an hour and will be charged at my normal rate.
In this session we will discuss the importance for providing privacy in sessions for their child and safeguarding guidelines. Parents will be asked to sign a parental consent form before sessions can commence and if the sessions will be time limited.
All sessions must be paid for prior to sessions commencing and parents must give 24 hours cancellation notice or the session must be paid in full.
Session times are up to 50 minutes and are suitable for children who would prefer counselling online from home.
