About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes you can’t put your finger on what is bothering you and that’s fine, I can help you do that and together we can work out the best way forward. Here are just some of the things I regularly help people with:
- Feeling depressed and low, sleep and motivation problems
- Trauma, maybe with flashbacks, nightmares and avoidance
- Uncontrollable worrying or going over the past
- Self-criticism and low self-esteem
- Panic attacks where you think you might die
- Strong fear of being negatively judged
- Workplace stress.
Many people just want to move on with their lives, let the past be filed away, stop battling with their feelings and gain some peace. Together we will look at ways of doing that.
I am accredited in three effective therapies - Counselling, CBT and EMDR. Counselling uses the relationship between us to help you focus on your emotions and help you grow in self understanding and acceptance. EMDR helps you process 'stuck' past experiences that cause problems now, usually using eye movements. CBT is a problem solving, collaborative approach looking at how thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact.
There are problems, and potential solutions through therapies based on evidence, but in the end most people want someone to listen, understand and help them make sense of what is happening with a person they can trust. That is what I always strive to do.
